It is with great regret that we have to inform you of our departure from Zanethemba on the 5th of September. We want to assure you that we are fine, and that God has been with us throughout the last few months, although they have been hard.
We have sent out a letter from our support team to all those we have email addresses for. If you support us in any way, and have not received this letter please email us at email@example.com and we will do our best to forward the letter to you.
If you have any questions or wish to get in contact with us about the decision we have made to move on from Zanethemba then please do so! As we move on from Zanethemba we will be losing internet access, but will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can. Currently our plans are to come home while we seek God’s face, and figure out the next steps. We intend to return to South Africa to continue working with these children.
Although the last few months have been difficult we have also see God’s goodness and power!
We saw one of our Zanethemba friends and volunteers give her life to Jesus last month! Based on the love she saw in this house, she came to ask us: “do you think, even I, could know this God?” He healed her of insomnia (having suffered with this for 5 years) on the night she gave her life to Him, and made the decision to forgive people in her life. We were so amazed and overawed to see God at work in our friend’s life like this.
We have had the privilege over to see our 10 month old baby girl adopted to Finland! Her parents had waited three and a half years to adopt a child, and we were overjoyed to have had the honour to meet them, pray for them, and send them off as a family of three! This little girl is the apple of her new parents eye… it was such a joy to see her lavished with the love she deserves during the time spent at the haven.
Over the last 10 months we have learnt so much about working with these children. We feel that God has used our time in Zanethemba to form and shape us so that we are ready for what He calls us into next. He has confirmed our calling to these children.
Our youngest resident turned 6 months this week, and we have had such joy in our hearts seeing how friendly and smiley he is! We had the privilege with one of our caregivers, of naming this wee man when he first arrived with us & his name means “beautiful boy from the Lord”. He really is beautiful! From 2 weeks old when he first arrived with us, this little boy just smiled perpetually, and he really lives out the meaning of his name. Thankyou for supporting us to live in this house with such amazing children. Our 6 month old in particular is bringing us a lot of joy this week as we see him now sitting up and rolling.
Thankyou again, each of you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support.
with much love,
Richie, Kate, Joseph & Reuben. x x x x
