Most dearest friends and family,
Merry Christmas!!! We’re sorry this comes last minute on Christmas eve & that we have not been organised enough to send the lovely snail mail Christmas cards that we’ve received, to everyone who has supported us over these last years. Please forgive us for this! The above spoken word poetry that we’ve posted, we really loved, and hope you also enjoy. Watching this poet kneel down in the middle of a car park at the end to worship the baby Jesus, gave me a fresh glimpse of the heart of Father God, in sending His son into the poorest of settings. It also gave me a fresh glimpse of our only response to this… to bow on our knees, like His first visitors, and worship the baby King.
Throughout the month of December we’ve been meeting with our ‘team’ from church, and now, have come to a decision on where we are going to be placed, on return to S.A. We can’t disclose any detail until after Christmas, however we can say that we now need to get all information required in order to set up our own charity, from N.Ireland. This means finding board members (minimum of 3), including a treasurer, chairperson & secretary. Please can you pray for us in this next season that the Lord makes it supremely clear to us who He has in mind for this purpose? We are more than a little overwhelmed by the fact that we’ve never done this before, and are very aware of our need for help, advice and lots of grace! 🙂 Thankyou guys for continuing to stand with us in prayer as we navigate these next steps.
We’ve chosen the name Peniel as the name for our charity, as our prayer for each of the children is that they would meet with the Lord face to face, as Jacob did in Genesis 32. That every child would have their identity changed by Him, from “abandoned” to “beloved” & would become blessed overcomers, as Jacob was.
We know that we shall need to be in N.I for a further 3 months at least, to get our charity established and to cast vision on what we’ll be doing when we return to S.Africa. We’re looking forward to having the opportunity to care for more children like the 11 kids we cared for last year. So in 2013, our prayer for each of you is that the God of all hope would fill you & your families with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, that you each may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15). We were playing with our boys this morning and I was so touched as our eldest boy Joseph, in the midst of making paper chains, took 2 strips of paper, made a cross and put it on the tree. When we asked why he did this, he said it was so we didn’t forget that Christmas was all about Jesus. haha! out of the mouths of children..
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. We continue to be amazed by the Lord’s guidance and love in this season. He really does love us, you, & each of His kids… so so much.
with much gratefulness and love,
Kate, Richie, Joseph & Reuben. x x x x
